Camp Thank You Letter

Dear Scott

Thank you for coming to camp and helping us kids with the tramp and bringing
the athletics people to camp. Also thank you for helping my group in room 4 to keep our room tidy.
Thank you for making dinner with the other adults for Miss Ireland and us to feast on.

My favourite part of the  first day was playing soccer, because its like an exercise for us kids.
What I liked about soccer was kicking the ball in between people’s legs which is called a nutmeg.

River crossing.

The part I struggled with river crossing was the current with how strong it was.
It was like the wind blowing as hard as it could. The part I found challenging with river
crossing was the cold of the water even if it was sunny and hot it was still cold.
My favourite part of river crossing was walking forwards and backwards.

The Tramp.

When we got to the walk: at the start you helped  Jack and me find a trout
. When the group started to walk all the adults started to use the walkie talkies.
When were halfway in on the walk my legs started to get sore.
My favourite part of the tramp was when I walked through all the mud on the way back and
the lake.

Search Rescue.

When we got to the destination our group was confused for where the clues were.
But luckily we had you to guide us around for the first and second clue.
The part I hated was carrying Brian because he was quite heavy.
My favourite part was getting carried by the group.

Dragon eye

This Term in Rm 1 we have done a dragons eye. To make a dragons eye you have to start off with folding which was the hard part. Then
we had to draw the eye and the eyelids. once you have done you had to die not die die asin colour die.   Here is the link to for the steps

Descriptive Writing

At the moment in class, we have been working on descriptive writing. We have been using pictures to give us ideas of what to write about. Here is a piece of writing I did.    Here is a link to the drive I used.

THAT ONE DAY

One day I was wondering around the city of the Big Apple (New York).
Then I heard thud noises. I was thinking in my head what it was?
I thought it was a dragon. But then I saw a creature come around a corner; it was a dinosaur! A big T-Rex, with big white teeth and flesh hanging out of its mouth.

When it came down the street that I was on, it smashed its
head on the building next to me! Glass shattered down on me.
It felt like it was hailing. The T-Rex started to eat people and picked
up trees and cars were being crushed by the T-Rex's teeth. People were
screaming in pain and horror. The dinosaur looked at me eye to eye and let
out a massive, “ROAR!” Then walked off. It felt like my heart was going 100
miles an hour.

Then it walked on the Brooklyn Bridge. It crushed the bridge down
into the water and the dinosaur went with it. That was the last day
for that dangerous dinosaur.

Pīwakawaka Information report

A Fantail is a bird but different to other birds around NZ
because they have a special tail that looks like a fan.
 A Fantail (Pīwakawaka) has a fan on its rear end and
the Colours of a Pīwakawakaare  parouri, marama parauri, ma and pango.

Fantails occur widely from Northland to Stewart Island,
and on some islands of the Chathams group. Fantails normally live in rainforests.

A Pīwakawaka eats worms. How does the Fantail get worms?
A Fantail waits for a couple of minutes and attacks the worm and eats it.

A Fantail is a seasonal breeder, nesting from August to
March in the North Island. September to January in the South Island.
 The babies get looked after until they can fly. The male fantail looks
after the babies or baby. The mother fantail goes off and gets it food.

A Piwakawaka greets other Fantails by saying cheet cheet. Fantails
 mainly live on their own but sometimes with small groups. Fantails
are playful with humans. Sometimes they play with each other too.

A Fantail’s threats are Possums, humans, ferrets, mice and rats.
Some of the man made threats to  Fantails are 1080 and plastic.
1080 is made to get rid of pests but it can also harm fantails and other native birds.

Beeswax Lunch Wrap And Fabric Bags.

This year our class made beeswax lunch wrap instead of  using  glad wrap. How to make beeswax lunch wrap? When I went to make my wrap you have to grate some beeswax, sprinkle it on you fabric, cover it with backing paper and use your iron to go over it until it is melted. Once you have finished you leave it to dry for 30 seconds. Once it's ready you have beeswax lunch wrap. The reason why we made beeswax lunch wrap is because we are trying to not use that much plastic.

The next thing our class made instead of using plastic bags was fabric bags. When we made our bags we had to choose form any type of fabric. I chose orange fabric and colourful handles. Before I went to sew my bag I had to cut out the fabric in a bag shape and the same with the handles. When I went into the tech centre I had to sit on chair I had to grab my fabric bag that has been cut out. I put it under the sewing needle. And I had to sew around the edges and the same on the inside. When I went to sew my handles I had to do the same with the bag ;sew around the out side but not the inside. After I sewed my handles I had to sew my handles to my bag.

 I enjoyed making my beeswax lunch wrap because it was my first time using an iron.
